About Our Mission

Dr. Mommy was born from a mother’s determination to heal her child - and to bring hope to other families searching for answers.

Becoming a mommy changed everything within me - a love so deep that words can’t describe it. When my son suffered an anoxic brain injury at birth and later developed autism, every belief I had was challenged. Refusing to accept “incurable” as the final word, I began searching for answers. That journey led me to the Weston A. Price Foundation, where I discovered the power of real food and built relationships with local farmers. Gradually, my focus shifted from a career in pediatric urology to the healing potential of nutrition and lifestyle.

Each new child in our family was born healthier - because my husband and I worked to improve our gamete quality and overall health. Over the years, as a researcher, clinical nutritionist, author, and advocate for at-risk children in foster care, I’ve witnessed the power of recovery and renewal through informed choices.

Our first success came from eliminating contaminants - especially endocrine-disrupting chemicals - and understanding how epigenetics connects nutrition, genes, and the environment. This journey taught me that wellness isn’t about genealogy or diagnosis, but about predispositions and empowerment.

With one simple genetic test, we began to understand how each of our bodies responds to food, toxins, and the environment. Through small, targeted adjustments, we saw profound results.

After 20 years of research in nutrition, genomics, and neuro-endocrine-immune function, my mission is clear: to bring hope and show that with the right nutrition and lifestyle, healing is possible - and every family can build a healthier future.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is DNA? Your DNA is made up of genes that provide the recipes for proteins our bodies make. The information in DNA is stored as a code made up of four chemical bases: adenine (A), guanine (G), cytosine (C), and thymine (T). What is Epigenetics? Epigenetics is the change in genetic expression based on your exposure to a combination of factors such as age, environment, lifestyle such as sleep and stress, and diet. What if I want to share info with my practitioner? Sharing your information with your practitioner is easy. From the app, click on the menu in the upper left corner. Select “Download My Report” and a pdf of your results will be emailed to you. You can share this pdf with your healthcare provider. How long till I get my results? DNA results will take approximately 5-6 weeks and epigenetic results will take 3-4 more weeks after receiving your DNA results. What is in the box? The box should contain: Two small plastic tubes with lids to hold the swab with your saliva samples and your kit ID printed on the  side of eac. Two long-handled swabs to obtain saliva from inside cheeks – the handle will break off after you place the swab inside the tube, so you can screw the lid back A small ziplock with the hazard symbol, and A teal mailing envelope. An instruction card containing all information that you need to know Your individual Kit ID to keep record of your kit. Should any of the contents mentioned above be damaged or missing, please contact us immediately. What is my kit ID? Your kit ID can be found on the side of the test tube in your box and must either be scanned by the ID scanner in our app or manually entered upon registering through the app before sending your sample off. If you have not registered your kit ID by the time the sample reaches us, we will NOT be able to process the sample and you might have to provide another sample. If you have any questions, please get in touch with us at DrMommy.com Who should have this testing done? A DNA test is very easy to do for anyone wanting to understand predispositions. All that’s needed is a simple saliva sample taken at home by rubbing a swab in the inside cheeks and placing into a tube (provided in the kit).Your genetic story will be in these few cells. The sample is analyzed in the laboratory and then experts in genetics, nutrition, detoxification, environment, and health, who understand the current research, interpret the results for you. How reliable is genetic testing? Our DNA kit comes with a simple to follow instruction card to help you take your sample correctly. Reliability of testing is something that all genetic testing companies should strive for, from a start the actual raw data must be accurate. We have done checks that DNA data coming out of the lab can be replicated in a different lab and that the results match, from all analysis of raw data. We find that we have a 99.99% accuracy on average, which is the gold standard. Where's the difference? The interpretation of data is where most genetic companies differ, we have an expert team made from the scientists in the lab, health professionals so that the interpretation is made from rock solid published research, in company research and real world results. Can I upgrade from DNA Profiling to the Biological Age & Epigenetic Profile? We do offer an option where you can buy additional panels such as eye health, and an epigenetic profile. For further information on procedure and costs involved, please Dr Mommy. Why do a genetic test? As humans, we each have between 20,000 and 25,000 genes. Most genes are the same in all of us, but there will be differences in less than one percent of them, which is what makes us unique. The science of genetics is helping us to understand what these small differences mean. We are all comfortable with the idea that our genes define our external characteristics – eye color, height, hair color, the size of your nose, etc. A genetic test reveals how genetics have defined your inner workings – how you metabolize food groups, which micronutrients your body absorbs efficiently and which ones are not. We reveal over 1,000 biogenetic markers that define your body makeup as it relates to health. That’s why genetic testing is becoming increasingly popular and useful. What are genes and DNA? A gene is a basic building block for all living things. Each gene is made up of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid). Like a recipe in a cookbook, your DNA provides the instructions needed to build and maintain all the different parts of your body. DNA is like a set of chains – some long, some short – made up of four different types of molecules (nucleotides) that, for ease, are labelled A, C, G, and T. A variation in the position of just one of these nucleotides in a DNA chain could make a difference to how your body works. These variations are called SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphism – pronounced ‘snip’). It is these differences that we look for in genetic testing and research. How can genetic testing help with a baby and parents planning preconception? Just as genes define your outer characteristics, they define your inner body makeup as well. So your capacity for metabolizing, detoxification, fat loss, inflammation, and nutrient absorption are all shaped by your genes! By discovering your own, unique genetic landscape you will be able to optimize training, diet and recovery protocols for optimum performance. Why am I getting an email from toolboxgenomics?
